Join a dedicated group of volunteers from the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) as they remove ice plant at Doran Park. While pretty, ice plant chokes out native plants, and reduces habitat for endangered birds like the Snowy Plover. This ongoing project has removed acres of ice plant, and is the focal point or our restoration efforts at this coastal park. The group meets every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To sign up text Jan Lochner, CNPS Invasive Plant Co-Chair, at 707-569-4724.
We recommend participants dress in layers, wear comfortable, closed toed hike shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen. Most programs will happen rain or shine, but may be canceled during heavy rains, heavy smoke, or extreme temperatures. Accommodations will be made for visitors with disabilities upon advance request.
